DETAILED ART FORMS IN NATURE
Laura observes the decorative patterns and bold colours found up-close in local landscapes to create original mixed media compositions. There’s a distinct fusion of different cultural influences seen within her work from previous travels overseas and a playful conversation between Art and Science.
Nature intertwining with the recurring theme of motherhood alongside her own creative journey does not go unnoticed.
Laura works with a range of media including graphite, gouache, acrylics and pen. She aims to create eco-conscious pieces too, reusing materials and incorporating collage pieces from previous experimental work when possible.
She graduated in Fine Art Painting in 2004 at Norwich University of the Arts and gained a masters with distinction in Museum Studies in 2011 at University of Leicester. Over the last 20 years she has followed a creative path in many industries including magazine production, a commercial gallery, plus national and independent charities in the heritage, museum and medical research sector.
It wasn’t until the pandemic and the experience of furlough that she finally made the leap to become a full-time artist. The name Art in the Burrow comes from returning to her own art practice through the lockdowns and her creative journey has been incredible. She is a Cambridge Open Studio Artist , a commitee member for the Ely Arts Festival 2023, 2024 and 2025 and part of the Cam Creatives community. Her private studio is located in her hometown of Ely

"I have to admit that when you first put forward the idea of live art at a concert I couldn’t quite see how it would work, but you certainly proved what an inspired idea it was! I thought last Saturday’s concert was a fantastic mix of Music, Poetry & Art and a real highlight of the Festival for me. Now seeing the time-lapse of you in action just adds another amazing dimension to my memory of the evening.
And last night’s concert, what another brilliant concert and a truly fitting finale to the Festival. The icing on the cake being the sale of the "Vivaldi Tree" – I have no words to express the emotion I felt when you told me! Well done." Martyn Newton, Treasurer of Ely Arts Festival

Art Makers Fair
Sat 14 Feb, 11am - 4pm
Discover a brand-new addition to Cambridge Arts Festival 2026 with their vibrant Art Makers Fair. Visitors and residents are invited to explore an inspiring showcase of regional artists, makers, and creators working across a wide range of disciplines. Wander through the hall, meet the people behind the work, and – if something catches your eye – take home a piece you love. From ceramics and textiles to printmaking, illustration, and handmade gifts, the fair offers a lively mix of contemporary craft, design and art, with something to suit every taste and budget.
Young visitors and grown-ups can also explore their own creativity. In one area of the hall, local artist Laura Pearson-Clark (Art in the Burrow) will be running a free, relaxed, drop-in workshop inspired by the hidden life of beehives. Hive Mind Art is suitable for adults and children aged 5+ (no booking required). February is a key moment in the beehive, as new life begins and bees start foraging from early spring flowers. Participants will be invited to contribute to a collaborative honeycomb mural, make paper snowdrops, design their own beehive-shaped homes and observe and draw the early signs of spring.
Held in the centre of the city at The Guildhall, Large Hall on Saturday 14th February, this lively fair is free to attend and open from 11am to 4pm. Come along to browse, buy, create, and celebrate the talent of local makers! This event is delivered by Cambridge BID and Cambridge City Council.

CASUAL TRADER & COMMUNITY PARTNER SINCE 2022
I love the conversations with visitors to my stall; sharing inspirations, processes behind my work or even talking about non-arty random things!
In the school holidays I also bring family friendly workshops to the market square; proud to be the first ever independent artist to create and facilitate a BIG DRAW FESTIVAL event in the heart of Ely city . Everyone is welcome and they are free to attend. I always try and relate the workshops back to nature.
" I just wanted to feed back that the drop-in art session at the market square today was really great. My children and I all took part together and it was a lovely set of activities. We were made to feel so welcome too. It would be great to see more of these free sessions."
Oct half-term workshop participant of the East Cambs community, 2024
